The MavEd Committee welcomes proposals for courses that satisfy the new MavEd Framework requirements which include transferable learning outcomes and content-specific learning outcomes.

Get Started

  • Review MavEd Framework requirements & MavEd Course Evaluation Rubric for detailed criteria that will be reviewed as part of the course approval process.
  • Complete MavEd Course Proposal/Approval form.
    • MavEd Course Design Workshops offer incentivized professional development on designing, or redesigning, courses that align with the MavEd Framework requirements.

MavEd Course Approval Workflow in CIM | Approximately 2-5 months

  1. Department submits course through CIM, attaching completed MavEd course proposal/approval form.
  2. College course approval. Approved courses advance in CIM for MavEd content-specific review.
  3. MavEd Content Area Subcommittee reviews course using MavEd Course Evaluation Rubric and recommends approval or denial to the MavEd Committee.
  4. MavEd Committee reviews the subcommittee recommendation and provides final approval/denial for inclusion in the MavEd curriculum.
  5. EPAC course approval. Courses approved after the catalog publication deadline may be offered before the next catalog update.
  6. Peoplesoft

Additional Information about MavEd Course Approval Workflow

  • MavEd content area subcommittees meet during the first two weeks of each month, and the MavEd Committee meets during the last two weeks of each month to keep the approval process moving efficiently.
  • If a course is assigned more than one content area identification in Section II of the MavEd course proposal/approval form, each content-area subcommittee identified will receive the course proposal for review at its respective meeting during the same review cycle.
  • If EPAC approves the proposed course, the MavEd Committee will work with the Registrar’s Office to ensure the newly approved MavEd course appears in course searches even if the course does not appear in the course catalog.
  • Departments will receive notifications during the MavEd CIM approval workflow, so they are informed of their course’s approval progress. Questions about the status of your course approval? Contact us at unogened@unomaha.edu.
