Employees Can Go 'Back to School' at UNO

The start of a new semester can mean new beginnings and new opportunities. But those opportunities aren't limited to new and returning UNO students. Employees can access them as well!

One of the most unique benefits of working at UNO is the opportunity to learn from UNO's amazing faculty and even complete or earn an undergraduate degree.

Here are just some of the options to consider this semester and beyond as you look to pursue opportunities for yourself and your family.

The Employee or Dependent Scholarship Program

Full-time and retired employees who wish to continue their education may be eligible for tuition assistance through the employee scholarship program. Spouses and dependent children may also be eligible for this benefit through the dependent scholarship program.

To be eligible for the Scholarship, which covers undergraduate or graduate academic credits for employees and undergraduate credits for dependents, employees must be at 1.0 FTE.

Each employee has a maximum of 15 credit hours per academic year they can allocate between themselves, a spouse, or dependent.

Audit a Course

Even if you aren't pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at UNO, you can still audit a course that interests you!

Auditing a course means you don't receive academic credit and you do not participate in class discussions, turn in papers, or take examinations.

Audit registration is subject to available class space, requires the written permission of the instructor, and must be authorized in person at the Office of the University Registrar in EAB 105.

Senior Passport Program

Are you over the age of 65 and aren't sure about an audit? Check out the Senior Passport Program offered by UNO.

The Senior Learning Passport Program is available to citizens who are at least 65 years of age. Senior learners may attend and "sit-in" on undergraduate courses (courses numbered 1000 - 4999) on a space available basis and with the instructor's permission. NOTE: Online classes are not eligible for this program.

Please complete the Senior Learning Passport Program Form and submit it to the Office of the University Registrar, EAB 105, after you have received instructor permission.
