➡️ The news: During this year’s Men’s College World Series (MCWS), a group of University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) School of Communication students and faculty got a behind-the-scenes look at ESPN’s championship broadcast operation. The group toured the network’s production compound, stepping inside ESPN’s sound, video and camera, and graphics trucks, to see how a major live sports broadcast is orchestrated.
💡 Why it matters: For many students aspiring to careers in sports media, this rare behind-the-scenes access offers an invaluable real-world perspective. They witnessed the intense coordination and cutting-edge technology required to televise a championship event, connecting their classroom knowledge to the fast-paced teamwork behind a national broadcast.
