areas of focus:
  • Teaches English Composition II and supports students in writing from all disciplines. Including personal statements.
  • Assists students with academic, financial aid, and other issues.

About Iona

Iona earned a BA in British and Anglophone Literature, BFA in Creative Writing – Fiction, and MA in English at UNO. She has presented at several conferences throughout her undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate studies about literature and writing center studies.
 
Outside of UNO, Iona writes fiction and makes handbound notebooks. She believes in the importance of creativity for one’s personal practice and community building.
 
Prior to TRIO SSS Project Achieve, Iona had served UNO as the graduate consultant in the Writing Center and an adjunct instructor for English. She loves to help others grow as writers and become a stronger writer in turn.

Iona knows how important mentorship is for college students and is excited to be a part of the program. She wants to help students succeed in and outside of the classroom.
