The University of Nebraska Omaha allows students the opportunity to gain academic credit for knowledge acquired by self-study or experience through Credit by Exam, Credit by Department, and Credit for Prior Learning.
National Credit by Exam programs include the Advanced Placement (AP) Program, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB), DSST (formerly DANTES Subject Standardized Tests), and Cambridge International Exams.
Some UNO Departments offer assessment credit for courses taught by their department. Credit by Department may be awarded only to current students at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Contact the Testing Center for details.
Credit for Prior Learning allows a student provided credential, microcredential, artifact or certification to be assessed or validated by a college for credit. Evaluation will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the individual academic department in which the student is majoring to determine how credit will apply to their specific degree program.

Credit is granted for the course upon successful completion of the assessment.
