Supported Absences
The Office of Student Outreach and Support (SOS) has implemented a new Supported Absences process to provide a consistent pathway for students experiencing circumstances that may affect their academic participation, such as illness, hospitalization, bereavement, personal emergencies, civil leave, or pregnancy-related absences. This process replaces our previous approach to absence notifications (including Medical Supervision) and is intended to provide greater clarity and consistency for students and instructors.
To request a Supported Absence Notification, students should complete the notification request form and submit documentation verifying the dates they were unable to attend class. A Supported Absence Notification may be requested after an absence has occured if documentation is available for the dates in question; however, students are encouraged to complete the form and submit documentation as soon as they are able.
Note: Students should submit documentation with the request form and should not provide medical documentation to their instructors.
